Fr. Kevin Fimian, pastor at Joint Expeditionary Branch Little Creek-Fort Story Bases and Chaplain for Tidewater Hope4Life, stands in the newly constructed parking enclosure for the two Hope4Life ultrasound vehicles. This parking area was graciously allocated by Virginia Beach’s St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church through Pastor Fr. Eric Vogt and his staff so that the ultrasound units would have a secure parking enclosure.
The cost of the replacement Mobile Ultrasound Unit was $54K, all funds for the vehicle purchase were raised or collected by Fr. Nicholas J. Habets Council #4632. Additional, funds for vehicle maintenance were donated directly to Hope4Life by other Knights of Columbus Councils in the Southside Tidewater area. Council #4632 facilitated Supremes’ full funding of the ultrasound machine for this vehicle through the KofC Ultrasound Initiative Program which cost $22K. Additionally, Council #4632 facilitated the transport and refurbishment of the vehicle in record time to place it in service by mid-June. In other words a replacement vehicle with a new ultrasound was delivered to Hope 4 Life in less than 6 months from request at half the normal cost, despite a national supply chain shortage…
Miraculous!!! Thanks be to God. Results…the first week that the new vehicle was in service saw 7 babies saved including twins.
Our next initiative is to seek out volunteers for weekly pit crew support for regular maintenance of the Hope 4 Life Mobile Ultrasound Units at the enclosed compound at St Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
